Hill Station Escapes in Kerala’s High Ranges
Cool air, tea-garden horizons and planters' bungalows — the unhurried altitude chapter of a journey.
When the coast warms up, Kerala goes uphill. The high ranges around Munnar have drawn travellers since the planting days, and the appeal is unchanged: cool mornings, tea to the horizon, and evenings that ask for a fireside.
We build hill chapters around characterful stays — planters’ bungalows, estate retreats, small hideaways — with private guides for the walks, viewpoints and waterfalls beyond the standard circuit.
The hill escape, done properly
- Private tea-estate walks ending in a tasting
- Planters’ bungalows and boutique estate stays
- Sunrise viewpoints above the cloud line
- Slow mornings: valley views, long breakfasts, no agenda
Hill Station Escapes in Kerala’s High Ranges – Good to know
Which hill station do you recommend?
Munnar is the classic and our usual first recommendation, with the most rewarding estates and stays. Quieter corners of the high ranges suit returning travellers.
What should we pack?
Layers. Days are mild, but evenings and early mornings are genuinely cool at altitude. Comfortable walking shoes make the estate trails far more enjoyable.
Can we combine hills with the backwaters?
It is the signature Kerala pairing — altitude first, water after. The classic route runs Kochi to Munnar to Alleppey or Kumarakom.
